Publisher review:IE Layer Patch is a quick fix for Internet Explorer where combo boxes will overlap the layers on a page. The script basically detect all the visible absolute layers on the document and insert a layer with an IFRAME behind it at the exact location and dimension.
Hence, the layer will no longer be obstructed by the combobox. The script needs to be in an interval as frequently as possible (perhaps 1/100 seconds depending on how much the developer can afford) to react to every layer appearance and disappearance, it is only a quick fix when applied directly.
Scenario where this can be used is when the developer does not want to meddle with the existing scripts but need to overcome this problem fast.
If the developer have a bit more time, he can remove the setInterval statement at the end of the js file, and call the function pil_scanLayers() whenever the existing scripts show or hide a layer.
